The Factory of the World

Mark Roberts

The Factory of the World presents video images from a former electronics factory in northern Finland. The factory was closed in 2003 when the production was moved to China. The images are juxtaposed with audio narration about working conditions in Chinese factories. The work observes how the lives and destinies of workers in China and in Finland are connected in the global networks of commerce and capitalism.
