Eight Rooms
Rainio Minna, Roberts Mark
The installation deals with the trafficking of women as a part of the international sex trade. It consists of eight synchronized projections that encircle the audience. Each projection shows an empty, untidy hotel room. A cleaner moves from one room to another, tidying them up. With each room, a narrator describes the experiences of the trafficked women. The stories are based on interviews and studies of prostitution and sex trafficking. As the viewer turns to follow the narrative, the rooms behind them become again untidy. The cleaner continues her endless round.
