Approximately 100 works are selected for the AV-arkki archive each year through a peer-review process. The selections are made by AV-arkki’s Archive Committee.

When submitting works to the archive, artists and organisations may also apply for AV-arkki membership. Members can participate in developing the organisation’s activities, attend the association’s annual meetings, and stand for election to the Board.

Membership is no longer a requirement for submitting works to the archive.

Artists whose works are included in the AV-arkki archive are charged either an annual membership fee or an equivalent annual service fee (€75 in 2025). These fees help cover costs such as maintaining the online archive.

This new model makes it easier and faster for works by artists who are new to AV-arkki to be included in the archive. In the future, it will also serve, for example, estates wishing to arrange the long-term preservation and distribution of a deceased artist’s works in collaboration with AV-arkki.

You can submit your works to the archive using this form. On the form, you can also indicate whether you would like your work to be considered for upcoming catalogue and Mediabox open calls.

Who Can Submit Works to the Archive?

AV-arkki is an artists’ organisation whose membership includes a broad range of professionals, such as visual artists, video artists, media artists, and experimental filmmakers.

The archive is open to applications from professional artists working in the field of media art (not students or hobbyists) who are permanently resident in Finland, are Finnish citizens, or have such a strong connection to Finland that their artistic practice can be considered to represent Finnish media art.
