Homo sapiens is a short film about a family whose entire life happens in their home. They have no contact with their species partners and live under constant surveillance. The family knows nothing but the prevailing circumstances. Not even the viewer knows who is watching them.

Juhani Koivumäki (b. 1981) received his MFA degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki in 2008, a Masters of Theology from the University of Helsinki in 2021, and a Masters of Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong in 2022. With his film and media art colleagues, Koivumäki founded the Film Co-operative Paraika in 2016.
