In the video, the artist listens to a c-cassette found from her late parents’ belongings. Her mother has recorded various situations of her first year on tape. The video work was shot in a single shot, and she hears the tape in front of the camera for the first time without knowing its contents in advance.

Eeva-Mari Haikala is a visual artist working mostly with video, photography and performance. Haikala was awarded a practise-as-research PhD from Roehampton University’s (London) Drama, Theatre and Performance department. In her art and research, Haikala is interested in questions such as representation of body, autobiography, historiography. The works of Haikala have been presented in exhibitions and festivals since the early 2000s.
