Tapio
Mäki Teemu
"In 2010 half of all species will become extinct – you can blame yourself!" The video is an attact against the simulacrum created by the consumer society in the spirit of Guy Debord's critique in La société du spectacle. The world is becoming more americanized, the US dollar rules everywhere, and our culture is monitored by hedonism. "Property is a substitute of body. Man is seeking shelter from physical pain by consuming." Obsessional sex helps to forget the state of the Earth. As the American tv priest states: "There is a huge difference between God and nature: nature never forgives." The starting point for the work is the music video Mäki made for a song called "Tapio" by Radiopuhelimet.
