Who Can Apply for Membership?

Please note: To apply for membership of AV-arkki, you must live permanently in Finland, have Finnish citizenship or have a connection to Finland, which is strong enough that your work can be considered to represent Finnish media art.

AV-arkki is an artists’ association, whose members are visual artists, video artists, media artists and experimental film makers. To apply, you must be working professionally in the field of media art (no students or hobbyists). You must also live permanently in Finland, have Finnish citizenship or have a connection to Finland, which is strong enough that your work can be considered to represent Finnish media art.

How Do I Apply for Membership?

The membership selection committee will consider membership applications on regular basis and present their suggestions for the board of AV-arkki at each board meeting. The board of AV-arkki makes the selections of new members. To apply for membership, please fill in our online membership application form. To complete the form you need:

– Previews of your works, which much be available for viewing on Youtube, Vimeo or a similar web service or your own website. The links should only include material directly relevant to the membership application.
– An up to date CV, with information about your studies and activities in the field of media art and contemporary art.
–A short attachment letter indicating, why you are applying for membership of AV-arkki.

Collaborative works may only be attached to the membership application form if both(/all) members or the collaboration are applying for membership at the same time, for example as a working group. If you are applying for membership alone, you must only attach projects where you have been the main director/producer of the work.  For previewing multi-channel installations, please link to a preview version where all channels have been combined in one channel.

Members of AV-arkki sign distribution contracts for each work they submit for distribution. New members will be briefed by AV-arkki’s staff on our distribution practices. Also refer to our FAQ for further information on the practicalities.
