Nälkämaan laulun uudet säkeet
Siirtola Anne
The starting point of the work is “the Song of a Hungry Land” – the provincial anthem of the Kainuu region in northern Finland. I invited immigrants in the Kainuu capital of Kajaani to update the song and sing their interpretations. The ensuing five stories describe homesickness and difficult journeys to the Northern country.

Her works have been presented in exhibitions, festivals and events including MUU Gallery in Helsinki (2013), Kunsthalle Helsinki (2013), Suomesta Galleria in Berlin (2011, 2010) and Kerava Art Museum (2007).
