Everything is a Projection
Yiu Sheung
Our daily lives and pace are increasingly disrupted by the ever-louder digital world—disruption, falling, starting over, and disruption again. However, advances in digital technology also bring new possibilities for imaging: it can trace the past while helping us shape the future and replicate virtually any environment. Under such circumstances, could “home” also be replicated?

Sheung Yiu (b. 1991, Hong Kong) is an image-centered artist and a doctoral researcher in photography, based in Helsinki. Yiu explores imaging practices emerging at the intersection of photography and large-scale computation, from facial recognition to remote sensing. Yiu tells digital fables about computer vision through excavating and aestheticizing large-scale vision datasets, to problematize the assumption that human vision is a computable problem.
