In–Between II
Romo Heidi
In-Between shows two people wandering at the outskirts of central Helsinki, moving between the socially acceptable and unacceptable. In the forgotten corners of the city, the collective control of the centre releases its grip. What will happen if you can be and do whatever you want? The structure is akin to reality TV and the candid camera. The work refers to surrealism and performance art, and juxtaposes the intimacy and alienation of the voyeuristic view.

Heidi Romo lives and works in Helsinki, Finland. She has studied in Cardiff School of Art and Design in the UK. Romo works in between photography, film and performance. Her works often comment on commercial culture with humoristic reinterpretations. Romo has participated in domestic and international exhibitions since 1996 in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain, Belgium and Russia. Her works can be found in the collections of Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helsinki Art Museum and the Wihuri Collection.
