The Figure of the Earth (La Figure de la Terre) is a short film based on the book by the same name published by Pierre Louis Moreau de Maupertuis. Maupertuis narrates his trip to the Tornio valley in 1736/7 as the head of the first ever international scientific expedition. He is portrayed by the historian of science Dr. Osmo Pekonen.
