Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen’s work Complaints Choir (2006) will be displayed by VIDEOGUD in Sweden from November 12 to December 2. VIDEOGUD works to make video art available to the general public, by displaying video works in video stations around the Gävleborg, Dalarna and Uppsala counties. The video stations are located in healthcare facilities, libraries, schools, museums and cultural centres.
In the ‘Complaints Choir’ project the complaints of the choir members are transformed into an impressive choir song with the help of a local musician. The project is open for anybody, no earlier singing experience required. The complaints vary from small daily irritations to big global issues. So far the project has been realised in Birmingham, Helsinki, St. Petersburg, Hamburg-Wilhelmsburg and Tokyo.
Tellervo Kalleinen and Oliver Kochta-Kalleinen have collaborated since 2003. Their projects often take the form of video installations, films and happenings or events in creative collaboration with participants. Kalleinen and Kochta-Kalleinen have participated in exhibitions around the world, including Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria (2010), MoMA P.S.1 in New York (2008), Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (2010) and Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki (2014). Kalleinen and Kochta-Kalleinen won the prestigious Ars Fennica Award in 2014.
