The ZKM | Center for Art and Media will present the second exhibition of the four-year international research-project Emergence of video art in Europe (1960s–1980s) (2021–2025). The research seeks to assess not only the very rich and varied video production in Europe but also the development of this medium internationally, as an additional history to the North American one.
The exhibition at The ZKM | Center for Art and Media will open in 2026. More information coming later.
The first exhibition Disruptions. Early video Art in Europe at FMAC Geneva was on view from February 20–April 23, 2025. The exhibition focused on the first steps of video art in Switzerland and its connections with European art movements of the 1970s and featured films by Mervi Kytösalmi-Buhl.
