Miia Rinne’s Beautiful Confusion (2017) will have its international festival premiere at the 31st Braunschweig International Film Festival in the Green Horizons short film selection. Held from October 17–22, the filmfest is the oldest festival in Lower Saxony, Germany. The screening of Beautiful Confusion takes place on Sunday, October 22 at 14:45.
Beautiful Confusion is about the nature of things, the law of nature… and carrier pigeons. Beautiful Confusion is the fourth episode in a film series where each new work is hand painted as a new layer on an earlier work. This series resembles a human body, carrying experiences from all the years past. Hand painting on film is combined with digital post-production.
Miia Rinne (b. 1973) lives and works in Helsinki. She has MA degrees from the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki and the University of Art and Design Helsinki. Rinne works with moving image, photography, printmaking and installations. In her works she mixes older and more recent material with each other and makes something new out of them. Rinne has participated in exhibitions, festivals and events in Finland and abroad since the late 1990s.
