Sini Pelkki’s Sheet no4 (2018) will be screened at Rencontres Internationales Paris, held from Feburary 25 to March 1. Sheet no4 is included in the screening “Protocol”. The screening takes place on Wednesday 26 at 18:00 in Grand Palais Auditorium.
Sheet No4 examines the outlines and borders of a photograph and a human being. Sheet No4 refers to a contact sheet; a sketch of a photograph, where different options and outlines are visible. The starting point of the work is interaction and interpretation between Pelkki and the multidisciplinary artist involved in the work; Emma Hammarén, Johan Jonason, Magnús Logi Kristinsson, Keiko Yamamoto as well as cinematographer Pietari Peltola and sound designer Anne Tolkkinen.
Sini Pelkki (b. 1978 Helsinki) works with photography and moving image. She interested in the subjectivity of seeing, introspective lives of spaces within spaces. In her works landscapes, figures and objects turn into layered narratives that lead to various paths and ambiguous readings. Pelkki has studied in London and Helsinki, gaining her Bachelor degree in Fine Art from Chelsea College of Art and Design, London (UK) in 2002 and MA from the Academy of Fine Arts Helsinki in 2008. Her works have been shown in exhibitions internationally. Pelkki is based Helsinki, Finland.
