Short films by Jonna Kina, Matti Harju, Jussi Eerola, and Saara Ekström at Rencontres Internationales Berlin

The Rencontres Internationales festival will be held in Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin from August 16–21 2022. The programme includes moving image works by Saara Ekström, Jonna Kina, Jussi Eerola, and Matti Harju.

Jonna Kina’s After Life followed by Red Impasto Jar (2021, in featured image) is included in the temporary exhibition “Ecosystem Assembly” on Wednesday, August 17 from 12.00–17.00. The work explores transcendental issues through archaeological and illegal excavations of tombs.

Matti Harju‘s Three Days of Rain (2022) will be screened in the programme “Domestic Conspiracies” on Wednesday, August 17 at 17.00. The short film slithers between life and death, online and offline. 

Jussi Eerola‘s Obsidian Blue Pearl (2021), a minimalist split-screen road movie, is included both in the special screening “Landscape Politics”, on Wednesday, August 17 at 19.00, and in the temporary exhibition “Tiny variations in a still set”, on Thursday, August 18, 12.00–17.00.

Saara Ekström’s Shadow Codex (2021) will be screened on Thursday, August 18, at 17.00 in the screening “Glorious Bodies”.
