Maija Blåfield’s Scenic View screened at London Short Film Festival

Maija Blåfield’s Scenic View (2023) is screened at London Short Film Festival, taking place from January 19–28, 2024 in London, UK. The film is featured in the thematic screening titled: Documentary: Journey To Earth on January 21 at 3pm in Curzon Soho. The festival describes the screening as follows: “From a haunted tour of the pea-soup fog in 1950s London to the depths of a primeval Finnish forest, up through the clouds into a space graveyard and back down onto a small commuter ferry, join us on 6 journeys across time and space on our pale blue dot”. Scenic View is distributed in collaboration with Raina Film Festival Distribution

Finland has the most forest in Europe, but primeval forest has become so rare that it feels fictional. Is it now the enchanted forest? Is a commercial forest real? As nature documentaries are staged, are they fiction? Scenic View is a film about how we look at a forest landscape and the reality.
