
Nina Lassila’s first solo exhibition at Cork Film Centre is open from 29.9.–27.10. The exhibition titled “Why Worry?” includes seven video works and focuses on different characters that appear in the artist’s work.
In her playful works, Lassila often takes on roles such as the artist, the critic, the real woman, the angry girl, or the catwoman.
Nina Lassila will give an artist talk on the opening day, September 29, at 14:00. The artist talk takes place in the University College Cork, at Digital Arts & Humanities, O’Rahilly Building.
Nina Lassila is a visual artist from Helsinki, Finland, currently based in Gothenburg, Sweden and Berlin, Germany. She holds BA degree from the Swedish School of Arts in Nykarleby (1997) and MFA from Valand Academy in Gothenburg (2006). Lassila makes video, performance and photography works that deal with gender and identity. Her works have been seen in several group shows and video festivals internationally i.e Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival (2009, 2012, 2013), LOOP Barcelona (2011), Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris (2011), MACRO Contemporary Art Museum in Rome (2011) and The Istanbul Biennial (2007).
