Jan Ijäs’s Belgrade Forest Incident… and What Happened to Mr. K? (2020) will be screened at La Cabina International Medium-Length Film Festival, held in Valencia from November 9–19 2021. The screening of Ijäs’s documentary film takes place on Saturday, November 13 at 18:00.

Mr K walked to the Saudi Embassy in Istanbul on 2nd of October 2018 to apply for a divorce certificate in order to remarry Mrs. Turkish C. Upon entering the embassy, Mr K was no longer heard, he disappeared. The disappearance causes widespread political conflict, leading to a 9% collapse of the Saudi Arabian Stock Exchange in two hours. Belgrade Forest Incident… and What Happened to Mr. K? tells the true story of the assassination of journalist, dissident, Jamal Khashogg. Events are told on the timeline of the news reportage, not on the timeline of the actual assassination. It is certain that Khashoggi was the victim of a political assassination, but what happened and where the body ended up is unknown.

Media artist and film director Jan Ijäs (b. 1975) studied documentary film making at the Department of Film, Television and Scenography at the Aalto University in Helsinki. His work can be described as a blend of avant garde, experimental media art and documentary film making. His films have been screened at more than 200 Finnish and international film festivals and as installations in museums and art galleries. He has won numerous awards, including the Finnish Risto Jarva Prize in 2011 for SWEET MOV(I)E, Raft of the Médusa, film about immigration won Amnesty International Award 2018 at the IndieLisboa film festival in Portugal.
