Kai Oka’s The Closing Circle will be showcased at AGORA Movement Space, Budapest on Friday 20th December as part of a special screening event.
At the heart of the evening is the premiere screening of The Closing Circle (1992/2023), a 14-minute cinematic meditation performed by two dancers. This visually compelling short film explores the profound themes of inner transformation and alchemy, weaving mythological symbols with personal artistry to offer an intimate and thought-provoking experience.
Following the screening, writer and playwright Orsolya Végh will deliver a public talk titled “Inner Alchemy: The Journey Towards Infinity – Pathways in Performing Art.”
To conclude the evening, Kai Walter Oka will guide the audience through a chakra meditation, culminating in a shared singing experience led by Orsolya Végh.
The Closing Circle (1992/2023) depicts the inner journey of a female protagonist into the mythopoetic world, which opens up the possibility of self-realization for her. The film’s visual language deviates from conventional realism and naturalism, guiding the viewer into the protagonist’s dreamlike reality.
Kai Oka grew up in Belgium and Canada and is currently based in Finland. He is a filmmaker, researcher, writer, and yoga and meditation teacher with over 20 years of experience. His work has been featured in international retrospectives, including the 2024 International Film Festival Rotterdam and Tampere Film Festival.
