Jenni & Lauri Luhta’s Moses included in Visual Front section of New Horizons Film Festival, Poland

Jenni & Lauri Luhta’s film Moses is included in the Visual Front section of New Horizons Film Festival held from July 18–28, 2024 in Wrocław, Poland. The Visual Front section showcases films of visual artists who daringly enter the world of narrative cinema, but also experimental films by renowned creators.

Moses is the second full-length feature by Finnish filmmaking couple Jenni Luhta & Lauri Luhta. The film’s world premiere was at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024, where it was included in the Tiger Competition.

Moses depicts Sigmund Freud (Jenni Luhta), the founder of psychoanalysis, during his final years, when he was obsessed with Moses (Lauri Luhta), the founding figure of Judaism. Entombed in a dark place, surrounded by the rising threat of antisemitism, the elderly Freud, ever the heroic atheist, attempts as his final deed to come to terms with the origin of monotheistic faith and the religion of his ancestors. What Freud says about “the man Moses”, and how he says it, reveals us the man Freud.
