Hanna Hovitie’s film Square The Circle will be screened at Videomedeja, held from October 10–12, 2024 in Novi Sad, Serbia. Videomedeja is an international festival of new media that engages with important social and political themes through video art, installations, and performances. The festival brings together avant-garde artists from around the world and provides a platform for exploring the impact of new technologies on art and society.

Hanna Hovitie’s Square The Circle (2023) asks how to be a circle in a square world? In a two-dimensional space, out of time, a person seeks their belonging to the world through a journey to infinity.

Hanna Hovitie (b. 1991) is a film director and video artist from Helsinki, Finland. Her films have been shown and awarded at several prominent international festivals such as DOK Leipzig, Melbourne International Film Festival, Sheffield DocFest, and International Film Festival Rotterdam.
