Finnish Focus at Fracto Experimental Film Encounter, Berlin

Fracto Experimental Film Encounter is presenting this year a Finnish Focus. The event is held from October 21–24 2021 in Berlin, Kunsthaus Acud. The Finnish Focus screenings take place in Acud Kino on Thursday, October 21 at 21:30 and on Friday, October 22 at 22:30. The Finnish Focus is curated by Kari Yli-Annala. Yli-Annala states: “For this compilation dealing with found images and other traces, I have chosen Finnish artists’ moving image works where the original materials have been given a new life. The use of technology by humans and the scars or scorched marks of history are being paid special attention. Like all bodies, film bodies can get old and damaged and still express lived vividity. The traces of the past are not resurrections but reminders that they are living entities, made freshly visible within new bodies of moving images.”

First screening is titled “Part 1 – Experimented, (ab)used, remembered”. The screening includes the following films:

Elina Oikari: Govadas (2018)

The second screening is titled “Part 2 – Consumed, compressed, resurfaced”. The screening consists of the following films:

Sami van Ingen: Flame (2018)
