Films by Pink Twins, Adel Abidin, Pilvi Takala, Liinu Grönlund, Jani Ruscica, Henna-Riikka Halonen, Marja Viitahuhta and Salla Tykkä are seen in the programme: Present form of Finnish Video Art: from AV-arkki.
Since the first of edition Yebisu International Festival for Art & Alternative Visions in 2009, this event has become one of the core elements in the Tokyo Culture Creation Project. This year’s theme, “See You on the Planet,” points to new angles from which to examine the Festival’s founding vision, to consider the question what visual images are. When we shift our perspective to one outside the Earth, we realize that humanity is only one part of what makes up our planet. As generations that grew up with the Internet and digital imaging continue to increase, that perspective also provides a standpoint from which to expand the imaginative powers applied to the past and future of imaging and other media technology while simultaneously reassessing the present.
