Pink Twins’ The Eternal (2021, in featured image) and Marja Viitahuhta’s Dolat (2021) are screened at Fredrikstad Animation Festival, held from October 21–24 2021 in Norway and online.
The Eternal is included in the “Abstraction” showcase, taking place on Thursday, October 21 at 17:30 in restaurant hoi polloi. Chinese classical gardens are a synthesis of a thousand years of landscaping, architecture, poetry and painting. The idealized artificial terrain of the gardens have influenced artists for centuries to create architypal landscapes images, which in turn have inspired garden design. The gardens are trancendental spaces, providing artificial landscapes and virtual oases to silence the surrounding megalopolitan overload. In their new work “The Eternal” chaos animators Pink Twins distort the views of gardens with a crystal-like caleidoscopic tunnel, adding a psychedelic layer to ancient harmonic panoramas.
Marja Viitahuhta‘s Dolat (2021, Flames) was selected for the Nordic-Baltic Competition of the festival. The screenings take place on Friday, October 22 at 16:00, and on Saturday, October 23, at 10:00 in Fredrikstad Kino. Dolat is part of Viitahuhta’s audiovisual collaboration with Sámi musician Ánnámáret.
