Plenty of Finnish artists’ moving image at doclisboa

This year’s doclisboa, taking place October 19–29, 2023 in Lisbon, Portugal, has Finland as a focus country, supported by the Finnish Film Foundation. The Finnish focus includes a retrospective of Markku Lehmuskallio and Anastasia Lapsui and also an extensive pitching showcase in the industry programme Nebulae. In addition to this, the festival programme includes dozens of films by AV-arkki’s artists in two different branches: the Green Years Section features a three-part screening programme with a Uniarts Helsinki, Academy of Fine Arts Time & Space department while Mika Taanila is the invited filmmaker in the New Visions section.

Finnish presence at doclisboa and Nebulae

Martta Tuomaala: Stretching (work in progress, Kenno Filmi)

As Finland is this year’s country in focus in the professional programme Nebulae at doclisboa, the presence of Finnish artists, producers and other professionals is strong. AV-arkki’s programme coordinator Tytti Rantanen will attend the festival as one of the jurors for New Talent Award, while professor Salla Tykkä (Uniarts Helsinki / Academy of Fine Arts) is invited for the Green Years Jury.

Producer Tuuli Penttinen-Lampisuo (Poike Production) is invited for the Jumpgate producers’ summit as a senior producer. Martta Tuomaala’s new project Stretching, produced by Danai Anagnostou and Farbod Fakharzadeh (Kenno Filmi), was selected for the Nebulae pitching sessions.
