They Go Gentle Into That Night Work by Soile Mottisenkangas awarded as the Best Experimental Documentary at Close:Up Edinburgh Docufest

They Go Gentle Into That Night Work (2020) by Soile Mottisenkangas was awarded as the Best Experimental Documentary at Close:Up Edinburgh Docufest, held from December 16–17 2021 in Cameo Picturehouse.

In this creative short documentary about rhythm of work, a mail carrier, a plate rolling operator and a train driver arrive at the scene of their night shifts. This portrait depicts how they embrace the sphere of their posts. Common to these main characters is that they have discovered a peaceful, flowing, own space out of the night shift.

Espoo-based artist Soile Mottisenkangas (Master of Arts, Film, Screen Academy, Edinburgh, 2011) works with video art, photography and film. Short doc They Go Gentle Into that Night Work won the Best short film award in Cinalfama, Lisbon, Portugal, 2020.
