Avreno Heikka appointed as AV-arkki’s Programme Coordinator

Following the transition of our longtime Programme Coordinator, Tytti Rantanen, to the position of executive director of Espoo Ciné film festival, Avreno Heikka has taken on the role of Programme Coordinator at AV-arkki.

Avreno Heikka has prior experience in both contemporary art and the domestic and international film festival scene. Heikka has also valuable expertise in building communication strategies for cultural institutions. Earlier they held the position of head of communications at the Midnight Sun Film Festival. Alongside their responsibilities at AV-arkki, Heikka will also maintain their part-time role as the communication coordinator of our long-term collaborator, Forum Box gallery.

Heikka has studied journalism, communication, and graduated from the Erasmus University Rotterdam’s International Arts & Culture Studies program, which included studies in art history, sociology of art, and philosophy. Heikka is currently completing studies focused on curating in Aalto University’s Visual Cultures, Curating and Contemporary Art master’s program (now called Art and Media).

“We are excited to welcome Avreno to AV-arkki’s team. Their expertise aligns perfectly with AV-arkki’s position at the intersection of film and contemporary art, with a strong emphasis on communication,” says AV-arkki’s director, Hanna Maria Anttila.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work in the field of media arts as part of AV-arkki, which has been doing exemplary work in promoting Finnish media art. I look forward to following in Tytti Rantanen’s footsteps as Programme Coordinator and am eager to meet the artists represented by AV-arkki!” commented Avreno Heikka.
