There are 11-12 exhibition times available for Mediabox in 2025. The space includes a fixed projector, media player & active loudspeakers.

Mediabox is an exhibition space for media art, located in Forum Box. The programme presents recent media art pieces and is coordinated in collaboration with AV-arkki – Centre for Finnish Media Art. The space is currently an important outlet for media art.

We are looking preferably new works to be presented in Mediabox. The selection does not limit to but prefers brand new or upcoming projects. The selection is curated by the personnel of Forum Box.

The selected works are automatically selected for AV-arkki’s online archive. The artist signs also Forum Box’s exhibition contract.

The exhibition slot is free of charge for AV-arkki’s member artists.

You can apply for an exhibition time even if you are not yet a member at AV-arkki. However, you must apply to become a member if you apply for an exhibition time at Mediabox. Read more about the membership and apply.

The exhibition

Forum Box does not charge a rent for the Mediabox space. The duration of the exhibition is approximately one month, and the vernissage is held at the same time with other vernissages at Forum Box. The exhibition contract includes communication and promotion in addition to the exhibition space and surveillance. Forum Box provides electronic invitation for the Mediabox vernissage and a Facebook event. Printed invitations for vernissage or exhibition catalogues are produced in artists’ own expense.

The space

Mediabox is a black box designed for projections. The dimensions are: width 2,1 m, length 3,4 m, height 2,2 m. The walls are black, the projection surface is painted with matt grey. The space is suitable for small installations, but all additional materials for installations are produced in artists’ own expense. The sound system of the exhibition will be coordinated with the Forum Box personnel and the artist(s) having simultaneous exhibitions in the general exhibition space.

The equipment

The artists have access to the fixed equipment of Mediabox without any additional expenses. At the moment, the equipment consists of: 1 Full HD video projector, BrightSign media player and a sound system (Genelec active loudspeakers). If needed, AV-arkki can provide technical support for projects. The position of the video projector is fixed permanently. If the artist wants to execute the projection in some alternative way, they must bring their own AV equipment to the exhibition space.
