Antti Tanttu’s Qualia at Cinanima International Animated FF, Portugal

Antti Tanttu’s Qualia will be screened at Cinanima – International Animated Film Festival of Espinho, held from November 12–18 in Portugal. Qualia is included in the screening of contemporary Finnish animation, screened in collaboration with Turku Animated Film Festival on Wednesday, November 14, at 15:30 in Centro Multimeios.

Blackboard animation Qualia seeks for the essence of experience. There is no such thing as same feeling, same pain, same colour. Qualia is always subjective. The essence of universal experience is unreachable.

Antti Tanttu was born in Malaga, Spain and currently lives and works in Helsinki. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki between 1984–89. His works often deal with issues such as solitude, absence and longing. Tanttu has participated in solo and group exhibitions since 1986 in e.g. Gallery Heino in Helsinki, Sara Hildén Art Museum in Tampere, Finland and Norrtälje Kunsthalle in Sweden, as well as in festivals and events around the world.
