International premiere of Maarit Suomi-Väänänen’s Minispectacles Squatting at Experiments in Cinema, US

Maarit Suomi-Väänänen’s Minispectacles Squatting will have its international premiere at Experiments in Cinema, held from April 16–20 in Albuquerque, U.S. The screening of Minispectacles Squatting takes place on Thursday, April 18, at 19:15.

Minispectacles Squatting portrays living at the squat in Zürich. Minispectacles is a series of one minute works, cinematic haikus. To be continued all the way to Part 100. Woman with a pocket camera.

Maarit Suomi-Väänänen works as a filmmaker and media artist. Praised as fascinating, absurd and open to a multitude of interpretations, Suomi-Väänänen’s award-winning works are shown in exhibitions, on TV, at biennales and festivals over 40 countries. Suomi-Väänänen has won two main prizes: Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, Montreal, 2009 and Toronto Urban Film Festival 2014 (judge Guy Maddin).

Just recently WomenCinemakers Biennale (Berlin) and Millennium Film Journal (New York) published a wide article and positive critic about the works of Suomi-Väänänen.
