To be somebody in life (2025) asks: Who is permitted to dream? Do we judge aspirations of young people as impossible from the onset?

The work explores fears, hopes and dreams of young people. An adult woman and a man take turns reciting documentary texts, delivering them verbatim while looking directly into the camera, at times in dialogue with one another. They both interpret texts written by people of different genders.

The documentary texts are written by Uruguayan youth as part of an installation in public space carried out in Montevideo in 2023.
