Pilvi Takala’s The Stroker and Saara Ekström’s Tailor screened in a special programme Tactile Sensations at the 44th Uppsala Short Film Festival (Oct 20–26, 2025)

Pilvi Takala’s The Stroker (featured image) and Saara Ekström‘s Tailor will be screened in the special programme Tactile Sensations at the 44th Uppsala Short Film Festival, held from October 20–26, 2025 in Uppsala, Sweden.

Uppsala Short Film Festival is Sweden’s biggest short film festival and arena for international short films, has since its beginning in 1982 established itself as one of Europe’s most important short film festivals.

The Stroker (2019) is based on Pilvi Takala’s two week-long intervention at Second Home, a trendy East London coworking space for young entrepreneurs and startups. During the intervention Takala posed as a wellness consultant named Nina Nieminen, the founder of cutting-edge company Personnel Touch who were allegedly employed by Second Home to provide touching services in the workplace.

Tailor

Saara Ekström’s Tailor (2016) follows the delicate choreography of a tailor at work. His hands decipher the fabric as a form of braille, a tactile writing system written as raised dots embossed on paper. The soundscape, created entirely in a Foley studio, brings a deceptionally realistic level to the work.
