Aniko Kuikka’s new installation in the exhibition “Chumming” at Glasgow International 2018

Anikó Kuikka is showing her new virtual reality moving image installation Wednesday 12 (2018) in a group exhibition ‘Chumming‘. The show is part of the official programme of the biannual Glasgow International, held from 20.4.–7.5.

‘Chumming’ is a group exhibition of 12 artists curated by Richie Moment. Located at The Pipe Factory, a Grade-B listed industrial space in Glasgow’s historic Barras region, the exhibition is interested in the culture the space inhabits and the group show as a model for artists to crossover, further exploring new levels of discourse & engagement.

Kuikka’s installation is supported by Arts Promotion Centre & FRAME.

Anikó Kuikka (b.1986, Espoo, Finland) is a Los Angeles based Finnish artist. She is a graduate from the Royal Academy of Arts in London awarded with a post graduate diploma in fine arts. She graduated as Master in Fine Arts from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki. Kuikka makes narrative moving image installations about the absurd construct of reality. Drawing from mythologies and fairytales, her characters play out archetypes and social power structures, aiming to deconstruct pre-existing values, the psyche, and identity.
