Anssi Kasitonni’s Finnish Midsummer 2169 (2016) will be screened at the 18th Bunter Hund International Short Film Festival, held from March 9–12 in Munich.
Finnish Midsummer 2169 is a small love story. In the year of 2169 there will be a solar eclipse during Midsummer Eve in Finland. That changes the life of a certain female vampire bat.
Premiered at Oberhausen Short Film Festival, the film has previously been screened e.g. at International Film Festival Bratislava and Shorts Mexico.
The screenings of Finnish Midsummer 2169 at Bunter Hund take place in Werkstattkino on Saturday, March 11, at 22:00 and on Sunday, March 12, at 17:00.
Anssi Kasitonni is a skateboarder and an award-winning artist from Sahalahti, Finland. He has worked in music, drawing and sculpture, but to many of his fans, the most beloved of his works are the short films he makes at his own farm. The films deal with age-old questions related to morality, love, death, generation gaps, sexuality and, of course, submarines. The ideas are epic, the films decidedly homespun. His movies create their own world that tells us something essential about ours. Kasitonni won the esteemed Ars Fennica Award in 2011.
