Hannaleena Heiska’s Metamorphosis in the programme of Lago Film Festival, Italy (18–26th July, 2025)

Hannaleena Heiska’s film Metamorphosis will be screened at the Lago Film Festival, held from 18th to 26th July, 2025 in Revine Lago, Italy. The film will be part of the section Moving Bodies, which features dance-focused films.

Founded in 2005 in the lake town of Revine Lago (TV), Lago Film Fest is an independent festival of researched cinema.

Hannaleena Heiska‘s Metamorphosis (2022) asks: What happens when the audience and staff have left the museum and the art begins to live its own life? The work suggests indulging in a viewing experience and surrendering to the introduction of non-verbal narration. Metamorphosis is an experimental short film shot on 16mm black and white film that combines painting and contemporary ballet. The film is the result of an interdisciplinary collaboration between visual artist Hannaleena Heiska and dancer-choreographer Minna Tervamäki. It was shot in the empty exhibition hall of the Espoo Museum of Modern Art EMMA.
