Huhta Aapo
The work depicts a human figure stuck in a vacuum-like space, attempting to rise but failing repeatedly. In Limbo was shot on black-and-white 16mm film and developed using experimental darkroom techniques, creating the illusion of a chemical storm surrounding the struggling figure. The piece was made in collaboration with butoh artist Ken Maj.

Artist Aapo Huhta (b. 1985) graduated with a Master of Arts degree from Aalto University in 2015. In his work, he combines elements of documentary practice and experimental darkroom techniques with subjective, mundane observations, building a range of ambiguous and often fragmented narratives. Huhta has published three photography books and was named Young Artist of the Year in 2020.
