Hanna Arvela’s Asylum in Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin

Hanna Arvela’s short film Asylum (2016) is included in the film programme related to the group exhibition “Swimming Pool” in Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin. The exhibition is open until September 15. The exhibition is curated by Valeria Schulte-Fischedick and the accompanying film programme is curated by Olaf Stüber.

Asylum portrays people exercising and discussing Tinder while ignoring global problems.

Hanna Arvela (b. 1981) works currently mainly with video, but her background is in comics, illustration and graphic design. She graduated Master of arts from Aalto university, studying visual culture and contemporary art & audiovisual storytelling and dramaturgy. Her works have participated and been awarded in international exhibitions and festivals, but she aims to exhibit also outside the institutional art scene.
