The Vault
Jaakko Pallasvuo
‘The Vault’ is a dual channel video work about a colony of people inhabiting a dome situated in the Arctic desert. Stilted action takes place within the dome. The unnamed characters wish to deny basic human needs. This results in their inability to engage in fluent interaction with each other. The characters use inorganic objects and studied gestures in their attempts to overcome the social restrictions they have imposed on themselves.
