Dead Burning City
Matikka Tommi
This is not a superhero movie. This is a movie about human being. A Hero loved by the whole city is crying. It all begins when an apparently ordinary night has come to an end and the hero returns home unnoticeable, like always. After taken a glimpse of yesterday's news about himself, he falls asleep. The hero awakes to the glittering reflection dancing on the wall. Something is terribly wrong. He sees the city on fire through the window and tries to pull himself together. But the despair takes over. After facing his distorted reflection, he sits and points a gun to his forehead, the burning city on the background. Little by little the hand holding the gun loosens and a lid in his costume, in the palce of his heart, opens. Beneath the opened lid runs animated pages into which the viewer dives. We see an animation of the last night's events. The fight against an unfortunate terrorist is taking place in an airplane. The hero is even too familiar with this kind of fight but something goes wrong. After rescuing all the passengers he fails to, on purpose or accidentally, save the airplane and the villain as well. An image of the villain's eyes begging for mercy precedes the explosion of the plane. Animation continues by showing the burning left overs of the plane floating through the air and setting on fire the helpless city waiting below. The city burns and tranforms into smoking ruins. The hero is no longer sitting but lying on the floor as if his was dead - the animated pages are flowing from the hole in the costume. The hero opens his eyes.
