AV-arkki will implement a project on the international distribution, sales and renewal of international networks of Finnish media art in the years 2022–2024.
AV-arkki’s collaborations partners in the project are Raina Film Festival Distribution Oy and Oy Poike Productio Ab.
Raina Film Festival Distribution is a company based in Helsinki, established in 2019, that provides professional festival distribution for documentary films and short films. The proceeds from screenings are fully directed to the film’s producer. Andy Norton, with over 20 years of experience in international festival distribution, serves as the contact person for Raina in this project.
As part of this initiative, we are launching an open call for our member artists with the goal of enhancing the distribution expertise of production companies for their works.
Through the open call, selected filmmakers and/or production companies have the opportunity to receive a customized festival distribution plan for their new work created by Raina Film Festival Distribution. Upon receiving the plan, the filmmaker/production company is responsible for implementing it themselves.
The work can be in its final production stages or a recently completed audiovisual piece without an existing festival distribution plan. Displaying the work in a gallery does not prevent future festival distribution.
The festival distribution plan is a tailored proposal suggesting which festivals would be suitable for submitting the particular work. In addition, a group meeting and training session will be organized between the selected filmmakers for the project and Raina’s Festival Distribution Manager, Andy Norton. The meeting will be conducted in English.
The service is free for selected artists, but the festival distribution plan may include festivals with registration fees.
The artist/production company commits to gathering information according to AV-arkki’s guidelines until the end of 2025 regarding the implementation of the festival distribution plan. They also agree to provide feedback to AV-arkki midway and at the end of the plan.
The open call is open to AV-arkki member artists until December 31, 2023. Distribution plans for the selected works will be completed in the spring of 2024.
