Kati Roover’s and Niina Lehtonen Braun’s works in the exhibition “Fragile Times” in Berlin

Kati Roover and Niina Lehtonen Braun are one of the invited artists of the group exhibition “Fragile Times“, open until October 25 in Galerie im Körnerpark, Berlin. The exhibition is curated by Dorothee Bienert and Kati Kivinen.

The ecological balance on earth has faltered. Climate change, pollution and species extinction are just a few of the catchwords that concern many people. Nevertheless, the realization that man destroys the basis of life on the planet leads to sustainable behavior changes in very few.

The exhibition deals with the fragile relationship between man and nature from different perspectives and looks for ways to explore it anew. How can art create a space in which we redefine our relationship with the (surrounding) world? Can art and poetry contribute to healing processes that improve the coexistence of living beings?

In their work, the invited artists deal with topics such as water as the origin of life; the paradox of fossil fuels that store solar energy; or garbage in the oceans, which could become the starting point for a gigantic archive of humanity. The artists contrast the generally widespread perplexity with unusual thought models and playful experiments. They shift contexts and thereby open up different perspectives on known facts, they trace forgotten knowledge about the forces of nature and resort to old myths, rituals and symbols, or they invent new ritual acts in search of meaningful relationships with the environment.
