Mox Mäkelä’s Strange (2018) and Panu Johansson’s
Picturing a Micropolis: 96100-97690 (2018) will be screened at CineAutopsia Film Festival, held in Bogota, Colombia from August 13–23.
The screening of Mäkelä’s Strange will take place on Wednesday, August 21, at 17:45 in Ciné Tonalá Bogotá.
“The ‘Strange’ will enter a house of the human world, with the trophy hall and tableware supported by the masses.” The audio play movie ”Strange” is a satirical but also tragic story about the visit, the motives of the reception and the destiny where the selected road takes you. The exceptional narrative is a combination of audio play and moving image from an era when structures based on crazy dreams begin to crumble.
Mox Mäkelä is a conceptual artist active since 1978. Mäkelä’s art has been shown widely in different venues and contexts, e.g. in the Maritime museum of Finland and at international film and art festivals. In her ecocritical films and installations, Mäkelä examines the clash between nature and human nature within the marine milieu. Another part of her oeuvre is “idiot ibidem”, a long-term extended project that studies a literary historical chain of events with full methodological freedom and diversity.
Panu Johansson’s Picturing a Micropolis: 96100-97690 will be screened on Tuesday, August 20, at 16:00 in Allianza Francesca Centro. Johansson’s film is a city symphony depicting Rovaniemi, the capital of Finnish Lapland. It is also an entity in which all the details captured on film – images, memories, seasons and neighbourhoods – are swarmed to the viewers retina as an intense kinetic stream.
Panu Johansson is a contemporary artist and an experimental filmmaker from Finland. The medias he mostly works with are moving image and sound. Some important influences and reoccurring themes in his work are the history of avant-garde/experimental film, but also cultural history in general.
