ITU is a Finnish video art production project. It aims to create new tools
to continue the success of the Finnish media art. The base is on high
know-how of the field. The means are the development of script writing, the
growth of productions and the combination of resources. ITU's target is a
world touring unity of new Finnish video art works.
ITU productions give attention to various mediums of distribution,
marketing and artistic quality. ITU has a theme home. Both the theme and
the production culture are realized at terms of art.
The project lasts for three years, starting at 2004 with a script-writing
workshop for video artists.
DO NOT DISTURB
The story is told by a woman who is having a relationship with a married
man. She has never met the man’s wife and children, but she dreams about
them. The wife dreams about her, too. Paradoxically, the wife is pleased
that the woman has appeared on the scene, since it creates an opportunity
for bringing an unsatisfactory marriage to an end. Only the man resists the
change. The narrator is waiting him to leave his wife, but suspects that
this will never happen. The work ends with a monologue by the man, during
which the love triangle is explained, but not resolved. The main role in
the love affair is played by the absent third person.

PORIFICATION
How a strange town became home
How’ve you been getting on in Pori? Porification is a videowork about
moving, acclimatisation, knowing and being known, and giving things up. It
is divided into eight episodes. The images show a town cropped to make it a
desert, an empty flat, a tranquil seashore, a festival ground once the
party is over. There is only an expanse of flat spaces. Nothing nor anyone
familiar.
A man talks in monologues about putting up wallpaper, going to the shops,
bicycle rides, repairing the car, and joining a sports club. The events are
connected by the experience of a new living environment and of an altered
social network. The man suffers from the hypochondria of loneliness, but
breathes a sigh of relief when he gets help for real pains.
