Inkerö Artor Jesus
In Bubble I spend a night in the sterile environment of a luxury hotel. The interior is glossy, neutral colours, tasteful décor, an expensive non-place designed for a pleasant experience. The work questions who has a right to leisure. It questions how this body exists in such a space, and how in this space it exists differently to other or othered bodies, such as how I may have been perceived before I embarked on my physically transformative project, it could be viewed as an explicit method for survival, also.

Artor Jesus Inkerö (born 1989 in Finland) is a visual artist, who works with performance, drawing, video, sound, photography, painting and ceramics. The topics of their works vary from personal narratives to cultural and political questions. Inkerö’s works often create connections to questions about humanity, culture, diet and lifestyle. From 2019 to 2023 Inkerö has worked as a resident artist at the Somerset House in London, Centrale Fies in Italy and Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam. Inkerö has had solo exhibitions at the New Museum in New York and at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam, and they have participated in group exhibitions Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, Central for Contemporary Photography in Melbourne and Kunsthal Charlottenborg in Copenhagen.
