In summer 2002 Helsinki advertised itself as the cleanest capital in Europe. "Clean Air" combines aerial views of Helsinki with a soundtrack consisting of thirty immigrants breathing. The second part of the installation, a CD, features these people saying their names. The cloudy landscape escapes recognition. Despite the distinct clarity of the images, the work ultimately negates the suggested accessibility and openness of the city.
