Alyaa was a student at the Art Academy of Baghdad. She was excited and eager to change the situation of women’s art in Iraq and the Arab world. One day her conservative family thought that her art and her progressive ideas might bring them shame. They restrained her in the house and forced her to marry. This piece is a memorial to her. The only thing Alyaa is left with is trying to remove the rust from a glass window. The projected window separates her from her rights, as any other human being should have.
