Waste no. 2 Wreck selected in the competition @ Message to Man IFF
Jan Ijäs’s short documentary film Waste no. 2 Wreck (2016) is selected in the international competition of Message to Man International Film Festival, held from September 23–30 in St. Petersburg, Russia. This year is the 22nd edition of the festival focusing on documentary, short, and animated films.
Waste no. 2 Wreck is a second part of a series contemplating on waste left over by modern society. Wreck was filmed in 2014 and 2015 in the graveyard for refugee boats on the Italian island of Lampedusa. It is a story about how the value of garbage and rubbish can surprisingly change.
The next part in the series, Waste no. 3 Boom will be exhibited in Pori Art Museum from August 30 to October 2.
