Tuomas A. Laitinen's The Powder of Sympathy @ EMAF 2016
Tuomas A. Laitinen‘s The Powder of Sympathy will be screened as a part of the official selection of EMAF – European Media Art Festival. Held from April 20–24 in Osnabrueck, Germany, EMAF is one of the most influential forums of international media art.
Premiered in Rotterdam IFF, The Powder of Sympathy sets in motion a frantic flow of images combined with feverish pounding, hissing and rattling sounds sourced from West Africa, The U.S. and China.
Tuomas A. Laitinen is a visual artist who works with various media including light boxes, neon, video, printmaking and sound. His work deals with social realities, circumstances and spaces in relation to the individual body, both in private and public realm. Laitinen was the first artist to receive the Art Prize of the Academy of Finland in 2013.
The Powder of Sympathy is included in the screening “Posts from the Future”, April 23 at 18:00 in Filmtheater Hasetor.
