Lauri Astala's Transit in International Competitions at IndieCorck in Ireland and AISFF in South Korea

The film Transit (2014) by Lauri Astala (b. 1958) will be presented in the International Competitions of IndieCork Festival and the 13th Asiana International Short Film Festival (AISFF2015).

IndieCork – A festival of independent film and music takes place in Cork, Ireland, between October 4 and 11, and AISFF2015 will be held in Seoul, South Korea, from November 5 to 10, 2015. The screening in AISFF is the Asian premiere for the film.

Transit will also be screened during the 32nd Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival, taking place between November 10 to 15, 2015.

Astala’s film presents documentary shots of New York that are altered by camera movements, angles and framing. This builds up a new fictitious urban space, whose visual familiarity stems from the history of film. The theme of Transit evolves around the collective visual ideas and notions of the urban environment.

In the past months, Transit has been seen in international film festivals around the world.

The film participated in the competition Prix Videoformes at 30th VIDEOFORMES Digital Arts Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France in April, the International Competition of the 31st Hamburg International Short Film Festival in Germany in June, and in August in the Main Competition of  OFF15 – Odense International Film Festival in Denmark.
